Target Information

CX3CR1 is a chemokine receptor required as a coreceptor for HIV infection. The human, mouse, and rat CX3CR1 genes (also known as V28, CMKBRL1, and RBS11) encode a seven-transmembrane protein identified as the receptor for fractalkine.
CX3CR1 functions as a coreceptor for HIV-1 and HIV-2 envelope fusion and infection, which can be inhibited by fractalkine. It mediates leukocyte migration and adhesion and is expressed in various human tissues and cell lines.
