Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 60% cross-reactivity with human IL-28B/IFN-lambda 3 is observed.
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 30% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-29 and less than 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse IL-28 is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
IL-28A belongs to the IFN lambda family, a novel family of cytokines within the IL-10 superfamily. The three members of this family are IL-29 (IFN lambda 1), IL-28A (IFN lambda 2), and IL-28B (IFN lambda 3), also known as type III interferons.
These cytokines signal through a heterodimeric receptor composed of IL-10R2 and IFN lambda R1 (IL-28R alpha). Signaling occurs via the Jak/STAT pathway, similar to type I interferons, activating antiviral and immunoregulatory genes.
Unlike type I IFNs, IFN lambda responses are limited to dendritic and certain tumor cells due to restricted receptor expression. IFN lambda stimulation can drive dendritic cells toward CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cell production, suggesting an immunoregulatory role.
Both IFN families exhibit antiviral, antiproliferative, and antitumor effects, making IFN lambdas potential alternatives to IFN alpha in cancer therapies.
