Target Information
DNA-directed RNA polymerase II subunit RPB1 (POLR2A) is a DNA-dependent RNA polymerase that catalyzes transcription of DNA into RNA using ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates. POLR2A is the largest subunit and forms the catalytic core of RNA polymerase II, responsible for synthesizing mRNA precursors and many non-coding RNAs. It participates in the active center together with the second largest subunit and plays a key role in transcription initiation, elongation, and termination. The phosphorylation status of its C-terminal domain (CTD) regulates interactions with transcription and mRNA processing factors.
