Product Specific Information
This antibody detects human, mouse, and rat Neurofascin in Western blots, and rat Neurofascin in direct ELISAs.
Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS before use.
Target Information
Neurofascin encodes an L1 family immunoglobulin cell adhesion molecule with multiple IGcam and fibronectin domains. It plays a role in neurite outgrowth, fasciculation, and organization of the axon initial segment (AIS) and nodes of Ranvier during early neural development.
These regions contain high densities of voltage-gated Na⁺ (Nav) channels, clustered via interactions with cytoskeletal and scaffolding proteins such as gliomedin, ankyrin-G, and βIV spectrin. Neurofascin links the AIS extracellular matrix to the intracellular cytoskeleton and undergoes extensive alternative splicing.
