This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Connexin 45 (GJA7).
Target Information
Gap junctions are specialized structures on plasma membranes that enable direct cell-to-cell communication through transmembrane channels composed of connexin proteins. Connexins are classified based on molecular mass and sequence similarity into alpha and beta categories. For example, CX43 is an alpha-1 gap junction protein, while CX32 and CX26 are beta-1 and beta-2, respectively. Connexins have four transmembrane domains, three intracellular loops, and two extracellular loops. Expression patterns vary among tissues, and multiple connexins can be expressed in a single cell type. Connexin gene expression is developmentally regulated, influencing processes such as embryo implantation.
