Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of ULK1 only when phosphorylated at Thr1046.

Target Information

ULK1 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a critical role during the initial stages of autophagy, a vital cellular response to nutrient starvation. The conserved C-terminal domain (CTD) of ULK1 regulates its function and localization. Knockdown of ULK1 inhibits both the autophagic response and rapamycin-induced autophagy, consistent with its role downstream of mTOR. ULK1 forms a complex with FIP200 and ATG13, which is essential for starvation-induced autophagy. Both FIP200 and ATG13 are crucial for proper ULK1 localization to the pre-autophagosome and for ULK1 protein stability. ULK1 phosphorylation is regulated by the mTOR pathway in response to nutrient conditions.
