Target Information
RNA-binding component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, required for multiple steps in initiation of protein synthesis. The eIF-3 complex associates with the 40S ribosome and facilitates recruitment of initiation factors to form the 43S pre-initiation complex. It also participates in mRNA recruitment, scanning for AUG recognition, and recycling of post-termination ribosomal complexes. The eIF-3 complex selectively regulates translation of mRNAs involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis.
