Target Information
Myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1), also known as the myosin-binding subunit of myosin phosphatase, is one of the subunits of myosin phosphatase. This enzyme regulates actin–myosin interactions downstream of the small GTPase Rho. RhoA activates Rho-kinase, which phosphorylates and inactivates myosin phosphatase, leading to increased myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation and contractility. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms are known for this gene.
