Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45092 was sufficient for detection of HSP70 in 20 µg of heat-shocked HeLa cell lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 70 kDa. Does not cross-react with HSC70 (HSP73).
Target Information
HSP70 is a heat shock protein expressed in response to various biological stresses, including high temperatures. The HSP70 family includes highly conserved proteins induced by stress in all examined organisms.
Human HSP70 family members include:
- HSP70: Strongly inducible and constitutively expressed in primate cells
- HSP72: Induced exclusively under stress conditions
- HSC70: Constitutively expressed, involved in clathrin-coated vesicle uncoating
- GRP78 (BiP): 78 kDa, localized in the endoplasmic reticulum
- p75 (HSP75): Found in mitochondria
HSP70 is encoded by an intronless gene and, together with other heat shock proteins, stabilizes existing proteins and assists in folding newly translated proteins. It is also involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway through interaction with AU-rich element RNA-binding protein 1. The HSP70 gene is located in the major histocompatibility complex class III region.
