- Specificity: The antibody is specific for the human CD1a protein.
Target Information
CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with beta-2 microglobulin. It is found in cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, interdigitating cells, and certain T-cell malignancies. CD1a mediates the presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes (CD1a–e), organized on chromosome 1. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternative spliced transcript variants have been observed, though their biological validity remains undetermined.
