Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Suggested positive control: prostate cancer or skin tissue.
Target Information
Keratins 6 and 16 are expressed in keratinocytes undergoing rapid turnover in the suprabasal region (hyperproliferation-related keratins).
Keratin 6 is found in hair follicles and suprabasal cells of various internal stratified epithelia and epidermis, both in normal and hyperproliferative conditions.
Epidermal injury activates keratinocytes expressing CK6 and CK16. CK6 is strongly expressed in about 75% of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and is associated with differentiation.
