Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly expressed at either N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to enable isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins lacking specific antibodies by fusing a known epitope to the target protein.
His-tagged proteins are purified via metal chelate chromatography due to the strong affinity of histidine residues to metal ions such as Ni²⁺.
His tag-specific antibodies are used for detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
