Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at either the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to enable isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of proteins for which no specific antibody is available by fusing a known epitope to a recombinant protein.
His-tagged proteins are purified using metal chelate chromatography due to the strong and selective affinity of histidine clusters for Ni²⁺ ions, enabling purification to homogeneity on Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents.
His tag-specific antibodies, such as this product, are used to facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
