Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly attached to the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to facilitate purification via immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging enables detection of recombinant proteins for which specific antibodies are unavailable by fusing a known epitope to the target protein.
His-tagged proteins can be purified efficiently due to the strong affinity between histidine clusters and metal ions such as Ni²⁺.
His tag-specific antibodies are widely used for detection, purification, and co-immunoprecipitation of His-tagged recombinant proteins.
