This antibody detects SLC2A4 with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 54.8 kDa.
Target Information
The SLC2A4 gene encodes an insulin-regulated facilitative glucose transporter belonging to the solute carrier family 2. In the absence of insulin, this integral membrane protein is sequestered within muscle and adipose cells. Upon insulin stimulation, it rapidly translocates to the cell surface to mediate glucose uptake.
Mutations in this gene have been associated with noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM).
