Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylate several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein.
It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays essential roles in growth factor–regulated cell proliferation, motility, immune response, and tissue repair.
p70 S6 kinase acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, targeting the S6 ribosomal protein to upregulate protein synthesis.
Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
