Product Specific Information
The HIP8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD41 molecule (integrin alpha IIb, platelet GPIIb). CD41 associates with integrin beta3 (CD61) and is expressed by megakaryocytes and platelets. The CD41/CD61 complex serves as a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, vitronectin, and thrombospondin, mediating platelet aggregation. HIP8 blocks platelet aggregation.

Target Information
CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb, ITGA2B) consists of two subunits (120 kDa alpha and 23 kDa beta) that interact with CD61 in the presence of calcium to form a functional receptor. CD41 mediates platelet aggregation and binds to von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin. Expressed on megakaryocyte-platelet lineage, CD41 appears early in hematopoietic differentiation.
Associated disorders include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 bleeding disorder.
