Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with rat, non-human primate, and Drosophila based on sequence homology.

Recombinant rabbit polyclonal antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies. This format ensures consistent production and eliminates biological variability typically associated with traditional polyclonal antibody generation. These antibodies recognize multiple epitopes on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets.

Target Information

EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates signaling in response to various growth factors. Overexpression of EGFR is linked to multiple cancer types and serves as a therapeutic target for biological and small molecule drugs. The EGFR gene is located on chromosome 7 in humans and belongs to the HER/ERbB family, which includes ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4. EGFR dimerizes upon ligand binding (e.g., EGF, TGF-α), leading to autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in its cytoplasmic domain. Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and squamous cell carcinoma.
