Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) is a hypothalamic peptide hormone that binds to G-protein coupled receptors to stimulate secretion and synthesis of growth hormone (GH). GHRH receptor proteins are found on plasma membranes of primary human tumor cells and may play a role in cancer cell growth.
GHRH belongs to a peptide hormone family that includes VIP (vasoactive intestinal polypeptide) and PACAP (pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide).
