RARA (Retinoic Acid Receptor Alpha)는 레티노산의 수용체로, 리간드(all-trans 또는 9-cis retinoic acid) 결합 시 RXR/RAR 이합체 형태로 표적 반응 요소에 결합하여 유전자 발현을 조절합니다.
리간드가 없는 상태에서는 전사 억제 복합체와 결합하여 히스톤 탈아세틸화 및 전사 억제를 유도하고, 리간드 결합 시에는 전사 활성화 복합체와 상호작용하여 유전자의 발현을 촉진합니다.
RARA는 정자형성 과정에서 생식세포 발달 조절, 골격 성장 및 성장판 기능 유지, 그리고 레티노산 유도 과립구 형성에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
