This antibody reacts with CD16⁺ granulocytes and can be used for mapping CD16-158V/F polymorphism on NK cells, as it requires the presence of V at amino acid 158.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in immune complex clearance and cellular-mediated cytotoxicity.
The FCGR3A gene shares high similarity with FCGR3B on chromosome 1.
FCGR3A is expressed on NK cells as a membrane glycoprotein, while FCGR3B is expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN).
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with immunodeficiency 20, recurrent viral infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia.
Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
