Target Information

Cellular senescence is the terminal non-dividing state that normal cells enter after exhausting their proliferative potential. MORF4 (Mortality factor 4) is a transcription factor-like protein that can reverse the immortal phenotype in certain human cell lines.
MORF4 localizes to the nucleus and contains helix-loop-helix and leucine zipper motifs, enabling it to form transcriptionally active homo- or heterodimers. It interacts with transcription corepressors mSin3A and TLE, suggesting a role in transcriptional repression of genes involved in cellular senescence.
