Target Information
CHCHD3 is a component of the MICOS complex, a large protein complex of the mitochondrial inner membrane that plays crucial roles in maintaining crista junctions, inner membrane architecture, and contact site formation with the outer membrane.
It may also function as a transcription factor binding to the BAG1 promoter and repressing BAG1 transcription.
CHCHD3 is essential for MICOS complex stability and mitochondrial cristae morphology.
