Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Transthyretin (TTR), also known as prealbumin, is a plasma protein that transports thyroxine and retinal-binding protein. It is primarily produced in the liver and secreted into plasma. TTR accounts for approximately 25% of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein, suggesting selective transport across the blood-CSF barrier or synthesis within the CNS. It is found in neuritic plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, and microangiopathic lesions of senile cerebral amyloid. Over 40 different mutations in the TTR gene have been associated with amyloid deposition.
