Product Specific Information

EXD1 is an RNA-binding component of the PET complex, essential for piRNA processing during spermatogenesis.
The piRNA metabolic process represses transposable elements during meiosis through piRNA–Piwi protein complexes, maintaining germline integrity.
The PET complex facilitates secondary piRNA metabolism, enabling PIWIL2 slicing-triggered loading of PIWIL4 piRNAs.
Within this complex, EXD1 likely acts as an RNA adapter and is considered an inactive exonuclease.
