Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor’s ligand determines whether it forms homodimers or heterodimers with PDGFRA. Located on chromosome 5, PDGFRB is near genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, potentially linked to 5q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
