Target Information
RPS6KA5 (MSK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in regulating various cellular processes. It mediates phosphorylation of transcription factors CREB1 and ATF1 in response to mitogenic or stress stimuli (e.g., UV-C, EGF, anisomycin).
MSK1 also regulates RELA, STAT3, and ETV1/ER81, contributing to gene activation via histone phosphorylation and inflammatory gene regulation.
In skeletal myoblasts, it is required for RELA phosphorylation at Ser-276 during oxidative stress, and in erythropoietin-stimulated cells, it mediates Ser-727 phosphorylation of STAT3, influencing transcriptional activity.
