Product Specific Information
MA1-745 detects alpha 1, beta 1, and beta 2 subunits of syntrophin.
This antibody reacts with human, mouse, rat, chicken, canine, and amphibian samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence assays.
By Western blot, it detects an ~58 kDa protein representing syntrophin from rat and mouse extracts.
The immunogen is whole purified syntrophin from Torpedo californica electric organ postsynaptic membrane.
Clone 1351 is directed against an epitope within the PDZ domain of syntrophin and is considered the “gold standard” for syntrophin assessment.
Target Information
Syntrophins are structurally related proteins located at the neuromuscular synapse and are essential for dystrophin-associated protein (DAP) complex formation.
Three main isoforms have been identified: alpha 1, beta 1, and beta 2.
Each contains a PDZ domain, a syntrophin-unique domain (SU), and three pleckstrin homology (PH) domains (PH1a, PH1b, and PH2).
The PDZ domain mediates binding to nNOS and the DAP complex, facilitating localization of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor to the cytoskeleton via the (S/T)XV C terminus.
