Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds platelet-derived growth factors, acting as mitogens for mesenchymal cells. The receptor forms homo- or heterodimers (alpha/beta) depending on the bound ligand. Knockout studies indicate PDGFRA’s critical role in kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit defective renal phenotypes.
