Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a 26 kDa protein found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes, catalyzing various reactions. It is commonly used in the GST gene fusion system, enabling purification of fusion proteins via their affinity for glutathione. GST fusion proteins are valuable tools for studying direct protein–protein interactions and are widely utilized in expression vector systems.
