Target Information
SPT16 and SSRP1 are found in all eukaryotic cells and exist as part of an essential heterodimer complex. Together, SPT16 and SSRP1 form the FACT complex (Facilitates Chromatin Transcription), a highly abundant nuclear complex that enhances the processivity of RNA polymerase II through nucleosomes. FACT is also implicated in DNA replication, possibly by facilitating polymerase progression through nucleosomal structures.
