WD repeat는 약 40개의 아미노산으로 구성된 보존 서열로, GH-WD 모티프를 포함하며, 이 구조는 다단백질 복합체 형성을 촉진합니다.
이 단백질 패밀리는 세포주기 조절, 신호전달, 세포사멸, 유전자 발현 조절 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사 변형체가 존재하며, 관련된 pseudogene이 염색체 16번에 정의되어 있습니다.
