Product Specific Information
- Predicted to react with mouse, rat, and non-human primate based on sequence homology.
- Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band; upon reduction, generates ~25 kDa light chain and ~50 kDa heavy chain bands.
- Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits and screen individual clones for optimal production.
- Advantages include:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
CRP (C-reactive protein) is a major cyclic, pentameric acute phase protein composed of five identical, noncovalently bound, nonglycosylated subunits. Each subunit consists of 206 amino acids with a molecular weight of 24 kDa.
CRP is produced by the liver, and its plasma levels increase dramatically during inflammation. It initiates the classical complement cascade, binds to nuclear components (chromatin, histones, etc.), and plays a key role in innate immunity.
CRP levels can rise 100–1000 fold in response to injury, infection, or inflammation. It acts as an opsonin, complement initiator, and monocyte/macrophage activator. It binds to nuclear components such as chromatin, histones, and snRNP, functioning as a scavenger during cell necrosis.
Elevated basal CRP levels are associated with increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
