Product Specific Information

The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and plays an essential role in T cell development and function.

• Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of mouse thymocytes and splenocytes (≤ 0.5 µg/test)
• Laser Excitation: 405 nm; Emission: 780 nm (Violet Laser)
• Recommended Filter: 780/60 bandpass or equivalent

Usage Notes:

• Use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) when multiple Super Bright dyes are used to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.
• For compensation setup, use stained cells rather than beads for optimal results.
• Protect vial and samples from light due to photo-induced oxidation sensitivity.
• Fixed samples can be stored up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark using IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333).

Target Information

CD4 antigen is a co-receptor for MHC class II molecules and HIV. It is mainly expressed in T helper cells and other immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of non-lymphoid tissues. It plays a role in T-cell activation and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
