This HMJ1-29 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse Jagged-1, a Notch receptor ligand. Upon binding, Jagged-1 undergoes proteolytic cleavage by ADAM-family metalloproteases and gamma-secretase, releasing an intracellular fragment with uncertain biological function.
Jagged-1 is expressed by thymic lymphoid and stromal cells, macrophages, and CD8+CD11c+ dendritic cells in the spleen.

Target Information

The jagged 1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophila jagged protein. Human jagged 1 acts as a ligand for the receptor notch 1. Mutations in jagged 1 cause Alagille syndrome. Jagged 1–Notch 1 signaling is also involved in hematopoiesis.
