This antibody detects endogenous levels of eNOS only when phosphorylated at Ser1179.
Target Information
Nitric oxide (NO) is an inorganic, gaseous free radical that acts as a signaling molecule between cells. It mediates vasorelaxation, neurotransmission, and cytotoxicity. NO production is catalyzed by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) enzymes, which convert L-arginine into L-citrulline and NO.
There are three NOS isoforms:
- Neuronal NOS (nNOS, type I)
- Endothelial NOS (eNOS, type III)
- Inducible NOS (iNOS, type II)
All NOS isoforms contain binding domains for calmodulin, NADPH, FAD, and FMN.
