Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues, heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is an enzyme that catalyzes the rapid conversion of carbon dioxide and water into carbonic acid, protons, and bicarbonate ions. It is abundant in all mammalian tissues.
CA IX is one of the most hypoxia-inducible genes regulated by HIF-1α, and its membrane localization and stability make it a reliable histochemical marker of hypoxia.
Carbonic anhydrases play a key role in pH regulation by controlling hydrogen ion flux, which influences cell survival under hypoxic conditions. Blocking CA IX increases cell death under hypoxia, highlighting its biological importance.
