MA1-25831 detects Perforin from mouse samples.
Target Information
Perforin is a major cytolytic protein found in cytotoxic granules. It mediates pore formation in target cell membranes, playing a key role in immune defense against tumors and viral infections by cytotoxic lymphocytes. The protein consists of 555 amino acids, including a 21 amino acid signal peptide, with a molecular weight of approximately 70–75 kDa. Perforin shares structural similarity with complement component C9 and is expressed in killer cell lines but not in helper T cells or other tumor cells. Mutations in the perforin gene are associated with familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis type 2 (HPLH2), a rare autosomal recessive disorder. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
