Target Information
The 26S proteasome (PSMD11) is a multicatalytic proteinase complex composed of two subcomplexes: a 20S core and a 19S regulator.
- The 20S core consists of four rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two rings of 7 alpha and two rings of 7 beta subunits).
- The 19S regulator includes a base with 6 ATPase subunits and 2 non-ATPase subunits, and a lid with up to 10 non-ATPase subunits.
Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and function in ATP/ubiquitin-dependent peptide cleavage via a non-lysosomal pathway.
The immunoproteasome plays a key role in processing class I MHC peptides.
PSMD11 is a non-ATPase subunit of the 19S regulator.
