Target Information
EIF2a (Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2A) is a heterotrimer composed of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. This factor mediates binding of initiator methionyl-tRNA to the 40S ribosome in an AUG-dependent manner, forming the 43S pre-initiation complex. EIF2a can be phosphorylated by stress-activated kinases, which inhibits EIF2B activity and prevents guanine nucleotide exchange.
