Product Specific Information

The MQ2-13A5 antibody reacts with human interleukin-6 (IL-6), a 21–28 kDa cytokine secreted by various cell types.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended use: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (final volume 100 µL).
Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Fluorophore Information:
eFluor® 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue®, excited at 405 nm and emits at 445 nm. Ensure instrument compatibility with this fluorochrome.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B-cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune diseases or infections.
This gene is expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and activates transcriptional inflammatory responses through the IL-6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 is implicated in various inflammation-associated diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Elevated IL-6 levels have been observed in viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
