Target Information
Alpha-1-B glycoprotein (A1BG) is a plasma protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily with no clearly defined biological function. Although its amino acid sequence, chromosomal assignment, and polymorphisms are known, its role remains uncertain.
A1BG (~63 kDa) consists of a single polypeptide chain of 474 amino acids with four glucosamine oligosaccharides and five intrachain disulfide bonds, forming five structural domains.
Recent studies identified cysteine-rich secretory protein 3 (CRISP-3) as a binding partner of A1BG, suggesting that the A1BG–CRISP-3 complex may protect against potentially harmful effects of free CRISP-3 in circulation.
