Target Information
NODAL is an important TGF-beta family protein involved in cellular differentiation. It is constitutively expressed in many developing tissues and is associated with the differentiation and development of various cancers.
Expression of NODAL is regulated by the Notch signaling pathway, and its disruption contributes to aggressive metastatic behavior, particularly in melanoma.
High NODAL expression in melanoma can help determine cancer stage and metastatic progression when tested in IHC.
Interactions between NODAL and Cripto promote tumor progression, and overexpression of NODAL is also linked to preeclamptic placenta.
