Target Information
NODAL is an important TGF-beta family protein involved in cellular differentiation. It is constitutively expressed in many developing tissues and is associated with differentiation and development of various cancers. NODAL expression is regulated by the Notch signaling pathway, and its dysregulation can contribute to metastatic cancer progression, particularly in melanoma. NODAL abundance can indicate cancer stage and metastatic potential in IHC studies. Interactions with Cripto promote tumor progression. Overexpression of NODAL is also linked to preeclamptic placenta.
