• Centrifuge if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.

Anti-Catalase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum, and purified Catalase (Bovine Liver).
Cross-reactivity against Catalase from other sources may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Catalase is a homotetrameric heme-containing enzyme present within peroxisomes. It converts hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen via dismutation reaction.
Human catalase includes the C-terminal sequence (-KANL) for peroxisome targeting and has a molecular weight of approximately 61.3 kDa per monomer.
Catalase is implicated in inflammation, mutagenesis, apoptosis prevention, and tumor stimulation.
Loss of catalase activity results in the genetic disease acatalasemia (Takahara’s disease).
