Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Cytochrome P450 4Z1/2.
Target Information
The cytochrome P450 (P450) superfamily of enzymes metabolizes fatty acid arachidonic acid (AA) to regulators of vascular tone. These monooxygenase enzymes require co-factors such as NADPH and P450 reductase. Over 200 known genes encode P450s.
- Epoxygenases metabolize AA to epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs).
- Omega-hydroxylases produce 19- and 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids (19- and 20-HETE).
P450s also metabolize drugs and toxins. Cytochrome P450 3A4 is highly expressed in the liver and small intestine and is inducible by barbiturates, glucocorticoids, and rifampicin.
