ITGA3 (Integrin alpha-3), also known as CD49C, VLA3, or GAPB3, is a cell surface adhesion molecule encoded by the ITGA3 gene in humans.
- Chromosomal location: 17q21.33
- Forms the alpha3beta1 integrin complex with the beta-1 subunit, involved in neural migration and corticogenesis
- Plays a role in DAB1 phosphorylation signaling and neuronal detachment from radial glial fibers
- Expression of human ITGA3 increases viral infectivity in CHO cells
- Contains 13 potential N-glycosylation sites, 2 potential cleavage sites, and 7 N-terminal repeating units typical of integrins
- Recombinant ITGA3 is expressed as a 150 kDa protein, consistent with the native form in western blot analyses
