Target Information
DRP1 (Dynamin-related protein 1) is a human protein involved in mitochondrial division in mammalian cells. It plays a critical role in mitochondrial fission during steady state and apoptosis. DRP1 is essential for proper mitochondrial distribution within cells, and in mutant neurons, mitochondria are largely absent from synapses, providing a valuable tool for studying mitochondrial function in neuronal activity.
