Target Information
BUBR1 (BUB1B) is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and a key component of the mitotic checkpoint, ensuring proper chromosome attachment before anaphase.
Defects in this checkpoint can lead to genetic instability and malignant transformation.
Human cells express two related kinases, hBUBR1 and hBUB1, both monitoring kinetochore-microtubule interactions.
BUBR1 is essential for normal mitotic progression and has been implicated in various human cancers, including breast cancer, where it interacts with BCSG1 to affect checkpoint control.
