Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
GIPR encodes a G-protein coupled receptor for gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP). This receptor was initially identified as an activity in gut extracts that inhibited gastric acid secretion and gastrin release, but later shown to stimulate insulin release under elevated glucose conditions. Mice lacking this gene exhibit higher blood glucose levels and impaired initial insulin response after oral glucose load. Defects in this gene may contribute to the pathogenesis of diabetes.
